Lovely Blog Award!!

Look what Grey Horse Matters gave me! What a fabulous way to start our long Thanksgiving weekend! Grey Horse Matters has been a blogger friend of mine since I first started blogging and I appreciate her support the last couple of years. The deal is that I pass the award on to fifteen other blogs and tell seven things about myself. So many have already been recognized, so I am going to limit my choices to blogs that are newer to me. Check them out!

I apologize for the formatting. For some reason I can't get it sorted out.

Living a Dream

Hmmm, seven things about me.....
  1. I stopped colouring my hair in May. I used to have black hair, which I lightened to dark brown. It will take about a year to grow out, but I am already excited about the pewter colour that is coming through.
  2. I hate bad table manners. I have a hard time sitting across from someone if they don't eat in a civilized manner.
  3. I love movies, old and new, and can actually spend a whole day on the sofa watching one after another. Shhh, don't tell anyone but I actually like western themed movies. Some of my favourites are Lonesome Dove, Dances with Wolves, Legends of the Fall, Hidalgo, 3:10 to Yuma and Appaloosa.
  4. I am actually stronger than I look. :-)
  5. Laughing is one of my favourite activities.
  6. I prefer muscle cars to sports cars.
  7. Halloween is right around the corner. Some of the costumes I have worn over the years include Scarlett O'Hara, Magenta (Rocky Horror Picture Show), Friar Tuck, Elvira, a flamenco dancer, Goth girl, Anne Boleyn, Dolly Parton, Robin Hood and will be (hopefully) going as Dame Edna to a party this year.
Happy Thanksgiving to my Canadian blogger friends!

  1. Congratulations, you deserve any award you get. It's nice to get to know you better. I would love to see you in your costume this year, take a picture for us. I'm sure you'll look great. The last costume I wore was Pocahantas for my granddaughter Halloween party at school. I was also a cowgirl once and my husband swears I'm a natural for a witch and broom!

Love all the western movies too. The ones you mentioned are some of my favorites. Then again what can you expect when I grew up with the Lone Ranger, Annie Oakley, Rin Tin Tin etc.

  2. Congrats and thank you!

I enjoyed reading a few things about you.
I'm the same way about table manners and I have a feeling you and I would have a wonderful time just vegging out on the sofa watching movies all day. Hidalgo, Lonesome Dove, Dances with Wolves, and Legends of the Fall are some of my favorites!
I am delighted about all of your wonderful Halloween Costumes. I, too, enjoy dressing up for Halloween!
This year me and my twin sons are planning on flying to North Carolina for Halloween Weekend to participate in a Zombie Extravaganza! I'm going as a cowgirl zombie! I'm excited about being ugly/gory/pretty! lol!

  3. I'm with you on table manners. It drives me nuts when someone eats like they "live in a barn" as my mother would say when I was small.

  4. GHM - ".....my husband swears I'm a natural for a witch and broom!" LOL! My husband has said the same thing to me. :-) I grew up with the Lone Ranger, Rin Tin Tin, Lassie, Roy Rogers....weren't they great shows?

Lisa - Cowgirl Zombie?! Awesome!! Post pics!!

Annette - I have no patience for bad table manners. I regularly see people stab a hunk of meat and chew off pieces instead of cutting off a piece and putting it in their mouth. What is with that? Waving cutlery around while they speak. Geez.

  5. Congrats - great to learn more about you!

  6. Congratulations and thank you! This is my first award =D

We don't even celebrate halloween in Australia, which is a shame because I think it looks like a lot of fun.

  7. Congratulations on your award...I was laughing when I was thinking about how you'd survive a dinner at my house with the three huge boys swilling and grunting at the "trough" at suppertime. (I've tried. Oh, my, I've tried.)

I have a plastic Viking helmet I wear on Halloween sometimes when I'm handing out candy (I'm tall and blonde, and someone bought it for me as a joke years ago). It's always surprising to me how many little kids are scared of the horns.

  8. A sincere thanks for the award. It's good getting to know you better! My favorite homemade costume was Cruela Diville, and my girls were dalmatian pups.

  10. Allison – My pleasure! I am looking forward to reading of your progress with shy Shyloh. :-)

Kate – Thanks! I love reading about you and your three.

Megan – You are more than welcome. I appreciate your dedication to educating the public on the plight of our four-legged friends and working towards bettering their lives. Too bad you don’t celebrate Halloween – it’s so much fun to ‘not be yourself’. :-)

Fetlock – Thanks! I guess if your boys are grunting and swilling, then it means they like your cooking, right? :-) Funny how kids would be afraid on the horns on your helmet.....

Aurora - Cruela Diville, and the girls were Dalmatians?! How adorable is that!

ltd - Thanks and you’re welcome! I enjoy reading about your beautiful Canadian horse, but also enjoy your recipes! FYI, My Husband just made a delicious pepper squash soup.... ;-)

  11. Thanks for the award! I am honored! Gee, now I'll have something to blog about!!!
It seems you aren't alone on the table manners thing! I'm like that, too. And, if you want to raise my blood pressure, and you are a guy... wear a hat at the table. Better yet, wear a baseball cap...backwards! ARgghhhhh!

  12. Dreaming - I am with you on that!! I hate guys wearing caps at the table!!!

  13. Thank you so much for the award! It was a great thing to see after getting home from work!

My dad has made me love western movies. We have a Lonesome Dove marathon every so often (the book is great too) and we watch Dances with Wolves every Christmas. Three of our horses are named for Dances with Wolves. The Outlaw Josey Wales is another one I've seen so much I could probably quote the entire movie to you.

  14. yayyy! I'd been hoping I would make it into one of the "new and notable" blog list of some of my favorite bloggers! thank you! I am so with you on #2 and the westerns you mention in #3 and laughing from #5, though I am the flip flop of you in #6... but I would probably say I like trucks more than small cars... all the better to pull a trailer with!

    thank you again!!! corinna

  15. You're a Rocky Horror fan! Awesome! I'll occasionally break out in songs from that movie and if I'm around other people when it happens I'll just get blank looks. More people should know it, then they could join me :)

  18. Cjay – I loved the book Lonesome Dove, too. I have heard of Outlaw Josey Wales, but never seen it. I will have to check it out!

Corrina – When I was in my 20’s and working downtown, I had to drive my father’s pick up for a month while I was waiting for my new car. I liked driving it, but it was a pain in the butt getting in and out of it in heels and a skirt. :-)

Shannon – I break into song or dance regularly. Rest assured that if I was around you when you broke into song/dance, I would join you… :-)

    Edward – You are welcome!

TCP – Looking forward to your update!
